NCB recently sponsored the launch of a female education program, the first of its kind at university Kingdom-wide, for the bachelor study of finance and banking. The program was introduced by Dar Al-Hekma College in Jeddah after its curriculum was prepared in collaboration with a number of universities such as King Fahd University for Petroleum and Mineral Wealth, Kass College for Business Administration and City University in London. Mahmoud Al-Turkistani, NCB head of community services unit, who received the honorary plaque from Zuhair Fayez, chairman of the secretariat council at the college, for sponsoring the launching ceremony of the college’s finance and banking section, indicated that the bank’s sponsorship of the event comes within the framework of its social activities in the field of developing educational programs and contributing to the efforts of educational authorities in the Kingdom.

Burger King has introduced chicken fries, an innovative, new chicken strip, at its restaurants across the Kingdom. The French fry-shaped strips of premium, all white meat chicken breast will be a permanent addition to the menu at its restaurants. The thin strips of juicy whole muscle chicken breast are coated with zesty, seasoned batter and are served in a distinctive portable container specially designed for consumers’ hectic, on-the-go lifestyles. “I am confident consumers will find the high quality full flavor of chicken fries irresistible and unlike any other hand held chicken product currently on the market,” said Yasser Abdel Azim, director, marketing and business development at Burger King.

SNAS/DHL saw the Saudi participants of the 2007 Connecting Cultures Desert Crossing Expedition off on their journey to Oman this week. The General Presidency of Youth Welfare (GPYW) is also supporting the initiative. A team of 16 young people from six nations and three continents are attempting a journey across 100 km of the Al-Sharqiya desert in north-eastern Oman, using camels for support. David Wilson, SNAS/DHL country manager for the Kingdom, said: “We welcome the opportunity to be the title partner for this incredible educational initiative to further promote intercultural dialogue and understanding.” SNAS/DHL’s support of the expedition follows the company’s successful involvement as partner of the 2005 Connecting Cultures Arctic expedition, which brought together 10 boys — six from the Kingdom and four from Britain, to spend two weeks on the remote Arctic island of Svalbard.

Infiniti claims that its redesigned Infiniti G Sedan has achieved a dramatic increase in both sales and popularity across the region. January marked the highest number of Infiniti G Sedan sales since its initial launch in 2004, recording an increase of 219 percent over January 2006 sales. The second generation of the sedan features a completely redesigned exterior and interior, as well as a refined VQ-series 24-valve 3.5-liter DOHC V6.
