Lion’s Cup Women’s Volleyball Tourney Opens Tomorrow

RIYADH, 1 March 2007 — Triskelion Alumni Organization of the Tau Gamma Phi/Sigma Fraternity, Saudi Arabia chapter mounts the first Lion’s Cup Women’s Volleyball Tournament starting tomorrow here.

The opening ceremony of the two months tourney will be held at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh at 2 p.m. According to the TAO President, Louie Montealegre, Ambassador Antonio Villamor is expected to attend the ceremony.

Montealegre said the tourney is the first project of the newly elected officers for the benefit of the victims of natural calamities and Bantay Bata 163 in the Philippines. “Any extra income of this tourney will go to the victims of natural calamities and Bantay Bata 163 in the Philippines,” he added.

He said the tournament is aimed at keeping TAO’s members and the participating teams physically healthy and fostering camaraderie among OFWs in general.

For his part, organizing committee chairman Marxis Santiago extended his thanks to the Philippine Embassy and the various companies, hospitals and individuals for their support.

According to Santiago the opening promises a lot of excitement and fun because most of the participating teams are staff nurses from different hospitals in Riyadh such as: Al Habib Medical Center, Al Hammadi Hospital, Kingdom Hospital, King Fahad Medical City, ESKAN Hospital, Millennium International School, Second Philippine International School and Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City.

The tourney is sponsored by City Plaza, Health Water Bottling Corporation, Internet Café, Enjaz, Nivea, McDonalds, Pacific Cargo, Peace shield Security System Co. and VAR (Volleyball Association of Riyadh).

Meanwhile, TAO adviser Amen Panolong has commended and congratulated the newly elected officers of the organization namely Louie Montealegre president, Edward Pastrana VP-internal affairs, Jude Llaneta VP-external affairs, Ariel Montanez secretary, Lito Espinola treasurer, Wilfredo Correa Jr. deputy treasurer, Ronnie Arevalo Auditor, Mohammad Bedu Master Triskelion, Clemen Gonzales Deputy Master Triskelion and the grand councils are: Marxis Santiago, Duane Ibanez, Arnold Arambulo, Earl Leyva, Marnie Salud, Paul Capistrano, Dennis Nuevo and Michelle Caacbay. Advisers are Amen Panolong, Willy Siose, Romeo Nazario, Victor Inoferio, Albert Bauzon and Noel Ruiz.
