MAKKAH, 13 April 2007 — The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice arrested a man who was selling alcohol on the streets of Makkah, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported. The bootlegger would loiter on street corners waiting for customers, who he would then lead down a narrow alley where he had hidden bottles of alcohol. Following a tip off, commission members, together with local police, monitored the activities of the bootlegger and arrested him red-handed sealing a deal. Police found SR3,000 and 35 bottles in his possession.
Car Accident Leads to a Drug Dealer
AFIF, 13 April 2007 — The driver of a jeep, which was involved in a crash with a truck on the Afif to Dulam highway in the south of the Kingdom, left the scene of the accident instead of waiting for the arrival of traffic police. Following a police search, the man was located 15 kilometers away. He was found suffering from exhaustion. Later it transpired that the man was a wanted drug dealer and had fled the scene of the crash to avoid arrest.
