RIYADH, 9 June 2007 — The first phase of the 280 km north-south railroad between Al-Jouf and Hail is being successfully carried out with a deployment of hundreds of heavy duty trucks, said Nasir Al-Omair, managing director of Al-Omair Trading and Contracting Company (OTCC), which was awarded the contract by the Ministry of Finance.

Nasir was speaking to newsmen at a function held in Riyadh at the Four Seasons Hotel to celebrate the delivery of Hino heavy-duty trucks by Jamjoom Vehicles and Equipment (JVE), which has a sub-contract with Al-Omair Trading and Contracting for the supply of heavy-duty trucks for the rail project.

Ibrahim Al-Omair, chairman of OTCC, and Marwan Ahmed, vice president of Jamjoom Vehicles, were also present.

“The first phase of railway project to prepare the plain ground is being carried out by Al-Omair and its associate companies,” said Nasir, explaining that the whole SR1.8 million project is being undertaken by OTCC, Al-Fahd Establishment for Trading and Contracting and Abdullah Abdul Mohsin Al-Khodari and Sons.

Nasir pointed out that his company continues to contribute to the Saudi economy by providing excellent services toward government projects at competitive rates by providing technically advanced machines and trucks like Hino from Japan.” The OTCC has commissioned a fleet of 1,000 trucks and heavy equipment.

JVE is the sole distributor of Hino range of trucks from Japan for last 35 years,” he said. Hino has introduced the new generation of heavy trucks late in year 2004 and since then it has never looked back.
