CAIRO, 20 June 2007 — Egyptian actress Hanan Turk confirmed recent reports that her husband Khaled Khattab divorced her. However Hanan refused to give the reasons for the divorce and asked the media to back off, the Arabic daily Arriyadiyah reported yesterday.
Sighted in various public places without her wedding ring, Hanan triggered rumors of divorce several weeks prior to the announcement.
Sighting anonymous sources, the Egyptian media has reported that the cause of the separation was her insistence that Khaled give up his pet dog. When he emphatically denied her demand, Hanan told him to choose between her and the dog. He chose the dog, the report said.
Hanan used to have several dogs until she began to wear the hijab several months ago. One of her dogs even attacked a director and seriously wounded him. The actress has two sons, Yusuf and Adam, with Khaled.
