JEDDAH, 9 July 2007 — With a particular interest in accommodating international students, Australia has created a mixing pot of cultures welcoming increasing numbers of students from the Middle East.

“Interested in Middle Eastern students’ point of view on Australia, aviation and flight training school facilities, we have taken some time to speak to students from the Australian Wings Academy, based in the Gold Coast, Australia,” a spokesman for the academy said yesterday.

Faris Al-Farsi, a student from Oman, has been in Australia for over 17 months. When asked why he has chosen to study in Australia, he said: “Australia is a good place to study; it gave me a chance to get to know a new culture and experience life abroad. There were no flying schools in Oman and Dubai’s flying schools were fully booked with waiting lists for months. No other school offered the same quality qualifications as Australian Wings Academy.”

Khalifa Khamis of Bahrain, joined Australian Wings Academy in December 2006. He explained why he had chosen a career in Aviation. “It was a wish of my father who has been in aviation for 30 years. He said to me — Go fly, go see the world. I am planning on working for an airline in the Middle East such as Gulf Air or Emirates.” Australian Wings Academy offers its international students support and guidance, assistance in accommodation and travel arrangements, as well as English Language Courses with special attention to cultural needs.
