MADINAH, 29 July 2007 — According to figures released by the organizers of the Taiba 28 Festival, more than 270,000 people have so far participated in the event, which is currently taking place in Madinah. Various activities are being held at the King Fahd Park, the Al-Nakheel Park, the Hijaz Train Station and the Al-Hassan Mall. The summer Umrah season has also increased demand for hotels and furnished apartments. Among popular events being held is the money exhibition, which is showcasing 2,000 different currencies, including those from various Saudi eras. Among currencies on display is the rare gold dollar, which Aramco initiated in 1948 to pay for oil because the Kingdom at the time insisted on exchanging oil for gold.
