MAKKAH, 28 December 2007 — The Al-Noor Specialist Hospital in Makkah undertook expansion works and installation of new devices worth SR27 million as part of the hospital’s preparations to receive the current Haj season.
Dr. Hatim Al-Amri, director of programs at the hospital, told Arab News yesterday that the new schemes included a media center and an experimental television channel as well as the latest hospital equipment.
“The television channel, a first in a hospital in the Kingdom, would broadcast health awareness programs apart from several hospital activities and medical conferences,” Amri said.
The hospital has also plans to organize several meetings between specialized doctors and patients in order to enlighten patients on various health issues.
The hospital’s X-ray department has been modernized to include digital systems such as magnetic resonance imaging, angiograph machines, scanning devices, ultrasound scanners, gamma cameras, a breast-scanning device and several other pieces of equipment.
A new wing comprising three operations rooms for the observation of internal organs has also been built. Another separate building to house various machineries for internal examinations was also built with three operations rooms and utilities at the cost of SR650,000.
