JEDDAH, 2 February 2008 — Thursday night at the Prince Abdullah Stadium sports complex in Jeddah, the Madinah teams faced the Jeddah teams in the Saudi Basketball Federation League.
In the first game Ansar battled Ahli, two undefeated teams trying to keep their streak alive.
Ahli took the early lead and were doing great until their star import player Damon Forney sprained his ankle. Ahli had lead by 14 points in the first half. Ansar turned it around in the second period. Ansar switched to a zone defense, and import Babaca Camara along with point guard Ayman Bilal got back into the game running a great fast break. Ansar went on to win the game by 85-79.
Ittihad faced Ohud in the second game of the night. Ohud the third unbeaten team in the league lost the battle against Ittihad. The scoreline was 108-77. Ohud lost Waleed Al-Madini to an ankle injury in the third period.
Ittihad kept a 20-point lead throughout the second half. Ittihad’s top guns, imports Mahmood Abdul Rauf scored 32 points with 5 assists and 2 steals and DeAngelo Collins 19 points.
Ali Magrabi had 18 points 7 rebounds and three blocks. Ohud’s import players, Jihad Muhammad and Suliman Camara did a good job but could not defend against Ittihad’s top guns.
