RIYADH, 7 February 2008 — Culture and Information Minister Iyad Madani visited Saudi Research & Marketing Group’s headquarters here yesterday and met with SRMG Chairman Prince Faisal bin Salman, Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil, the company’s executive vice president, editors in chief of the company’s various publications as well as a number of writers and journalists.
The minister was briefed on the company’s plans to develop the media industry in Saudi Arabia in particular and in the Arab world in general. He also held talks with media persons and writers in the company’s publications on various media-related issues. Prince Faisal, who accompanied the minister during his tour of the company’s different departments and publications, presented a commemorative shield to him.
Later speaking to media persons, Madani said his visit to the SRMG headquarters was within the framework of his continuing visits to various media organizations. “We are in continuous contact with media organizations in the Kingdom in order to exchange views and benefit from their experience,” he added.
Madani said the Kingdom’s media could benefit a lot from SRMG’s experiences, adding that the group has huge potentials. “The Kingdom is proud of this group, which has been working very systematically,” he said.
He described the media as the most dynamic industry in the world.
Madani noted SRMG’s efforts to develop the media industry making use of modern information technology and trends. He thanked Prince Faisal for giving him an opportunity to visit the group and meet with its officials and writers.
Madani was accompanied by Dr. Abdullah Al-Jasser, deputy minister for media affairs, Abdul Rahman Al-Hazza, assistant deputy minister for internal media and Dr. Abdul Aziz ibn Salamah, assistant deputy minister for external media.
