JEDDAH, 14 May 2008 — Saudi Oger has recently won two major contracts of the Ministry of Finance. The SR1.57 billion worth of contracts will see the execution of projects in Jeddah and Riyadh.
The first project, a contract for SR656 million consisting of engineering, procurement and building of eight aircraft hangars in Jeddah and Riyadh, is projected to take 18 months with work on the project having already begun in March.
The aim behind the design and construction of the hangars is to hold aircraft in protective storage against weather and ultraviolet light.
The two sites will use special mechanical systems HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems of high quality besides two state of the art electrical systems. The Riyadh site will consist of 5 hangars and supporting facilities with a total area of 51,480 square meters while the Jeddah site will comprise 3 hangars and supporting facilities with a total area of 31,189 square meters.
Saudi Oger has won a second contract to build the “Ministry of Finance and National Economy Complex” in Riyadh.
The complex is expected to be built in 28 months at a total cost of SR914 million and will be divided into four sectors including, the main administration building, which is a seven-story building and other annexes as well as a library and auditorium, which to be designed to house conferences and VIP meetings, along with a deputy’s tower, and a guest center comprising a men’s sports center and women’s social club with other various sport facilities.
The total built up area of the complex is to be 157,751 square meters with a total concrete volume of 86,112 cubic meters.
Commenting on being awarded the two contracts, Mazen Fayed, head of corporate communications for Saudi Oger, told Arab News,” We are very proud to have won these projects and be part of the mega project development in Saudi Arabia.
