200 Families Get Housing Units in Tabuk

TABUK, 7 June 2008 — Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Foundation, inaugurated and toured the charitable housing units in the Tabuk region recently.

The inauguration took place in Al Wajh city under the aegis of Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd ibn Sultan.

During the inauguration ceremony, Prince Fahd commended Prince Alwaleed on his humanitarian work throughout Saudi Arabia.

Al Wajh city was selected by Prince Fahd as the most suitable city for 100 housing units and a mosque, with 50 other units located in Bada Center.

A mosque and the remaining 50 units will be built at the Abu Algazaz Center.

Prince Fahd thanked Prince Alwaleed for his generous contributions to the Tabuk region.

Prince Alwaleed is known for his philanthropic activities and was recently honored with the Special Award for Philanthropy by Arabian Business.

The award was given in recognition of Prince Alwaleed’s active philanthropic work through Kingdom Foundation.

The foundation that is chaired by the prince has funded many cultural, educational and philanthropic projects globally including a £16 million endowment to create two new research centers for Islamic studies at the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh.
