THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government will offer developed land to nonresident Indians in the Gulf region to set up industrial units in the state.
According to Kerala Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) managing director Manoj Joshi, land developed by government agencies like KSIDC, Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) and Directorate of Industries and Commerce (DIC) would be available to set up industrial units in high-growth industry hubs.
As part of the initiative, the KSIDC is offering 175 acres of land in its Industrial Growth Center in Kannur at 1.64 million rupees per acre. Another 34 acres of land suitable for light engineering industries is available with KSIDC in Pudussery village of Palakkad, for long-term lease infrastructure facilities like roads, power and water supply and communication links. More than 190 acres of land is available in Kannur, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram districts with KINFRA for use by probable NRI industrialists and entrepreneurs. The land would be made available either at long-term lease to set up industrial units in areas like textiles, food processing, garments and infotainment.
In addition, 70,000 sq. ft. built up space is available at the Animation Special Economic Zone here for lease up to six years for 11.32 rupees per sq. ft. KINFRA lands are provided with all basic facilities like approach roads, uninterrupted power supply.
A little over 180.6 acres are being offered by DIC either for outright purchase or for hire at industrial clusters in Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Kasargod districts, at prices ranging from 306 rupees to 4993 rupees per cent. Infrastructural developments like land leveling, water supply and electricity will be made by the DIC along with investors, on 50:50 cost sharing basis.
