Intelligent City concept in focus

MAKKAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal inaugurated the Intelligent City Conference 2009 last night at King Abdul Aziz Hall at Umm Al-Qura University. This conference is considered the biggest event specialized in this field that has been witnessed in the Kingdom. This event aims at speeding up the usage of the up-to-date intelligent city techniques to improve the services at the Grand Mosque and facilitating the residency and transportation of guests of God.

This conference witnessed the participation of many leaders in development and information technology specialists in both the public and private sectors. There are many main topics that will be covered in this conference. The first topic will cover the familiarization of the needs of smart cities and review successful initiatives of new smart cities.

The second topic will discuss smart buildings and homes. This topic will talk about the latest international developments and the best examples of intelligent buildings and homes, that will include different techniques that will connect locally and internationally through broadband. Intelligent homes will include computer networks and security system and monitoring cameras and controlling lights through cell phones.

The third topic will discuss the needs of Makkah. Makkah is a city that aims at transforming into intelligent city with intelligent capabilities. The change itself is challenging. Changing the city into an intelligent city based on international standard needs to take into consideration the needs of pilgrims and visitors from all over the world. The main aim of the holy city is to provide the best of services to visitors by providing best of technical services.
