RIYADH: The General Directorate of Prisons is allowing 5,388 inmates to undergo training in courses offered by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) at 34 institutes across the Kingdom, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported yesterday.
The aim of the move is to make prisoners eligible for jobs in the technical or industrial sectors when they are released.
As part of efforts to rehabilitate underprivileged sections of society, the TVTC has collaborated with the General Directorate of Prisons to train inmates in various prisons in the Kingdom. The corporation has also set up training institutes in jails.
