Al-Jouf governor says utility services in region given a boost

AL-JOUF: Al-Jouf Gov. Prince Fahd bin Badr yesterday laid the foundation stones for a number of water distribution and landscaping projects worth SR20 million in the province.

“Utility services should be made available to people in all towns without exception,” said Prince Fahd, who was on an inspection tour to various towns in the province, during a function organized in Suwair Center.

The prince listened to the complaints and demands made by the citizens in the area. Those who received the prince included Saleh Al-Serhati, chairman of the Suwair Center, Miteb Ghazai, head of Hudaib village, and many other village chieftains.

The prince started his inspection of the region from Hudaib village. The governor also received the children of a local orphanage.

The prince laid the foundation stones for a 500,000-cubic meter dam in Al-Moatadil and another dam with a capacity to hold 1.2 million cubic meters of water in Zaloum. The combined cost of the two projects is estimated at SR14 million.

The governor also launched the construction work for a mini water-desalination plant at a cost of SR1.2 million in Al-Nizaem. The plant will have a daily capacity to produce 300,000 cubic meters of water.

Later the governor opened the new town administration complex at Zaloum. He also visited Talat Ammar and Al-Showaihitah towns yesterday.
