RIYADH: Participants from 62 countries will attend a meeting of ministers of endowments and Islamic affairs slated to be held in Jeddah on May 23 and 24.
“The conference will discuss issues such as interfaith dialogue, missionary work in Muslim countries, revival of Islamic thought, development of mosques and indexing of Waqf properties in the Islamic world,” Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Saleh Al-Asheikh, who is also the chairman of the conference’s executive council, said.
“The hosting of this conference is in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation,” Al-Asheikh said in a statement yesterday.
He added that the Kingdom hosted the first three conferences of the ministers of endowments and Islamic affairs in the Muslim world in Makkah in 1978, 1979 and 1980, and that the fourth conference was held in Jeddah in 1988.
The conference, “Role of Ministries of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance in achieving Intellectual Security,” will be held under the patronage of King Abdullah.
