JAZAN: Police arrested a 25-member gang of burglars composed of Saudis and Yemenis in Sabya town in the southern province of Jazan. They specialized in car thefts, breaking into houses and robbing individuals, a police source told Arab News on Saturday. Police were led to the gang’s hide-out following the arrest of a youth suspected of involvement in a mugging incident in the town. The youth admitted to robbing a man with the help of some accomplices. On the basis of the information supplied by the youth, police raided and arrested other gang members who confessed to their involvement in 35 unsolved robberies in Sabya and nearby towns over the past few months. The police have launched extensive investigations into the gang’s activities, the source said.
