JEDDAH: Gold’s Gym Grand Jeddah held the first spinning marathon for men in Saudi Arabia last week.
Besides being a great form of aerobic activity (burning between 400-600 calories in 40 minutes), spinning or indoor cycling is also beneficial in strengthening the muscles of the lower body.
The five-hour marathon started at 6:30 p. m. and ended at 11:30 pm. Captain Mohammed Abbas, the spinning instructor, led the spinning marathon and finished the five hours along with 13 members which was a very impressive result. Gold’s Gym CEO Makarem Batterjee presented some valuable gift items, Gold’s Gym certificates and one month free membership for every constant that finished the marathon.
Abbas ended the event by thanking Makarem and Operations Manager Richard for their positive attitude towards such events and also said “this is a message for married people who laid off the gym after getting married for whatever reason. I got married three months ago and here I just finished this five-hour marathon that I have never done before just to prove this theory wrong. Marriage is no excuse for being lazy, it should actually be a motivation to exercise more and live a healthy lifestyle with your partners”.
The winners that completed the marathon were: Malik Halawani, Ahmed Basameer, Adil Al Zanbaqi, Alaa Quds, Faris Basnawi, Ahmed Al Ghamdi,
Alaadean Hamzah, Dr. Abdul Minem Al-Hayyani, Mohammed Al-Sharief, Hussein Madani Al-Sabban, Abdulrahman Kilktawi, Dr. Ahmed Shehabuddean, Yousif Al Ansari.
All of those members who have been going to Abbas’s spinning classes for a while thanked Abbas for putting together such successful event and are looking forward for more challenges and maybe international competitions brought to all by Gold’s Gym Grand in the very near future.
