AL-JOUF: Police in this northern city arrested an academic of Arab nationality working in an engineering college for hiding under an abaya, making people think he was really a “she.” According to a recent report in Asharq Al-Awsat, the cross-dressing professor was caught because despite being covered from head to toe he didn’t manage to replicate a woman’s “demeanor,” according to a Saudi shopper who informed the authorities of this clandestine man. Police are unsure of the motive for the professor’s disguise.
Joyriding banker busted in Riyadh
RIYADH: A bank employee with a joyriding fetish used his access to car-financing files to find a car to take to an illegal stunt-driving meet in Riyadh. According to a recent report in Al-Shams daily, the employee found in the bank files a man who had recently defaulted on his car loan, took the spare keys that were in the file, went to the guy’s house posing as a postal employee and stole the vehicle. He then picked up his friends to impress them with his amazing ability to engage the parking brake at high speeds and “drift” the vehicle to and fro — one of the most common stunt moves by guys who think they’re a bunch of Mario Andrettis. The vehicle’s defaulting owner informed police of the theft and they later caught the bank employee cruising on Thamamah Street pretending to be an amazing driver.
