ABHA: A Saudi has been detained on murder charges for allegedly killing his mother and wife early Monday morning in Al-Batna village, 40 km away from Khaybar Al-Junoub in the southern Asir province, Al-Madinah newspaper reported on Tuesday. “The man shot his wife when she tried to run out of the house after he cut her hair. His mother, on seeing the outrage, attempted to call police on her mobile phone but he shot her as well. There were seven shots on the mother’s body while the wife carried four bullets,” said Asir police spokesman Col. Abdullah Al-Qarni. The family’s neighbors told the newspaper that when they rushed to the house on hearing gunshots at about 3:30 a.m., they found the man with a gun and his wife and mother lying in pools of blood. The neighbors caught the man and handed him over to police. The couple had several children. The reason of the murder is not known. Police are investigating.
