RIYADH: Abana and Tatak Pinoy Sportswear played good basketball in downing their opponents in the Manggagawang Kapit Bisig (MKB) 14th Season Inter-Purok Basketball Tournament, Class A & B Categories at the Hatco Company staff accommodation basketball court, Al-Naseem Area here.

Abana of coach Robert Gulmayo picked the right combination of Dawrene Pioco, Ed Manansala, Rocky Serdena, Bodax Olayon and Chris Flores in the early going as they gave their team a 20-point lead to end the first half 56-36 and proceeded to score a 115-77 win over D’ Riyadh Icon.

Ugenio Garibay led D’ Riyadh Icon with 26 points.

Tatak Pinoy of Fred Macalinao denied Al Marai Triangle victory by hammering out an 84-60 triumph in the Class A 5’10” with 2 reinforce category.

Coached by Donald Arcenia, Tatak Pinoy built its plays around Victor Quintal, Joshua Caroc, Jojo Barretto, Migar Calse and Milo Garado who gave their team leads of 28-12 and 48-23 at the end of the first and second quarters.

As the second half started Al Marai starring leading scorer Marlon Belista, Reymon Quinto and three-point specialist Graham Finlay tried in vain to stop the rampant Tatak Pinoy, which enjoyed a 62-41 third quarter lead.

Fourteen teams entered the tournament. In Class A (5’10” below open height with reinforcement) are: Purok 1 Al Marai Triangles, Purok 6 Leehan, Purok 7 Tatak Pinoy Sportswear, Purok 8 Tiger Paws, Purok 11 Hatco Selections and Purok 12 Grandians LDS. Class B (5’10” below without reinforcement) comprised Purok 2 PB Solar, Purok 3 Al Katkoot, Purok 5 Abana, Purok 8 United Motors “Dodge Challenger”, Purok 9 “D” Icon, Purok 11 Hatco Tech., Purok 13 Al Yusr and Purok 14 Willcors.

Al Yusr Installment Company represented by Michel Ghattas and Ronilo Nafrada is the sponsor of this tournament.

The league enjoys the support of Sunrise International School owner Mohammad Al Sharari, Hatco Company through Delfin Magote, Jr. and Ramon Grimaldo, Almarai through Emerson Mitra and Arab News.

Robert Barretto is the MKB president with Chris Zuniga as executive vice-president; Roger Gawaran, Internal Affairs VP; Ramon Grimaldo, External Affairs VP; Delfin Magote Jr., secretary general; Joe Tapan, treasurer; Jojo Luyun, auditor; Rey Perez, business manager; Alex Molina, P.I.O. and Ruel Villalobos, property Custodian.

Ramon Grimaldo is the chairman of the sports committee and is being supported by Resty Delos Reyes, commissioner; Tony Apolto, asistant commissioner; Jhun De Vera, Technical Committee chairman with Paul Moros, Albert Albino, Pepito Rodriguez, Emerson Mitra, Alex Piandong, Allan Piandong, Rey Alba, Elmer Domingo, Ruel Villalobos, Jojo Barretto and Hatco Company Boys as Technical Committee members. Group Referee Basketball (GRB) handles tournament officiating.
