The governor made the request while opening the three-day workshop.
The opening session was also attended by Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed, Jeddah Mayor Adel Fakieh and Undersecretary at the Makkah Governorate Abdul Aziz Al-Khodairy.
“This workshop is being held to hear and study various opinions for the benefit of Jeddah, which has a distinguished place in the Kingdom as it is the main gateway for pilgrims,” said the governor. Jeddah, which is known as the bride of Red Sea, attracts a large number of people from within and outside the Kingdom, he added.
Prince Khaled expressed his deep regret over the deaths and destructions caused by the deluge. “I believe that it was the result of an accumulation of past mistakes. We are here today to find suitable solutions to prevent a repeat of the catastrophe.”
He expressed his confidence that experts participating in the workshop would come up with viable solutions. “There is no problem without solutions. We request you to present proposals for the development of east Jeddah. We’ll study them and submit a final proposal to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.”
As a result, participating government agencies submitted proposals to meet the challenges facing the city.
