It is taking place at the King Fahd Cultural Center under the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
“The main purpose of the conference is to bring out the best in students and to prepare them for leadership roles in the future. It’s undeniable that they will succeed their elders as leaders in the government as well as in business and industry in the near future,” chairman of the executive committee Dr. Ali Al-Anazi told Arab News.
He added that one benefit for students at the conference is the opportunity to develop their experience at group management.
Keynote speakers include Higher Education Minister Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari, former Shoura Council member and businessman Abdurrahman Al-Zamil and Dr. Khawla Al-Kurayea, a physician at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center.
The speakers will hope to inspire students by sharing their experiences in life.
“The conference, which will be managed by students themselves, is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. More than SR1 million in prizes await the winners (of awards that will be handed out at the event),” he said.
Prizes are being handed to students who demonstrate excellence in humanities and social sciences, basic sciences and engineering, and health sciences.
Al-Anazi said an art competition, documentaries and entrepreneurship project, among others, would accompany the conference.
Over 5,000 university students from 33 public and private universities from all over the Kingdom will participate in the conference.
“More than 5,000 students have registered on the website to participate in the conference. The scientific committee has received 1,076 academic papers. Out of these 413 papers will be presented at the conference.  The winners will be announced on the last day of the event,” said Al-Anazi.
