Police official Mohammed Khan said the attack happened Saturday in the town of Karak in the North West Frontier Province bordering Afghanistan.
He said the dead and injured were transported to a nearby hospital where some of them have been listed in critical condition.
Khan said a mosque next to the police station also collapsed because of the blast.
No one claimed responsibility, but militants have targeted police, security forces and government offices in various parts of Pakistan in recent years to avenge military operations in the country's tribal regions.
