The seminar, which is being organized by the Indian Youth Welfare Association (IYWA) at Marriot Hotel on March 5 from 6.30 p.m., will set the tone for the three-day Gulf Environment Forum (GEF) at Jeddah Hilton from March 7.
The purpose of the seminar at the Marriot, according to the organizers, is to create environmental awareness among the Indian community, especially engineers.
“This is part of our annual educational program. Last year, we organized a seminar on health care. It is just a coincidence that this year it is happening at a time when a major event on the same topic is taking place in Jeddah,” said an IYWA official.
The high-profile GEF is the first environment and sustainable development conference and exhibition. It is being organized under the initiative of Prince Turki bin Nasser, president of the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment, with the support of the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Environment Program. Major national and international companies are sponsoring the event, which will see discussions on sustainable development water, clean energy, recycling, e-waste, carbon trading, industrial wastes treatment, air pollution, coastal protection, bio system and nature preservation, climate change, audit, studies and consulting, legal framework and policies.
