Louca, however, stood by his statement.
Minister Loucas Louca said Tuesday that Papadopoulos' family had received a demand for ransom for the return of the body, which was stolen from its grave in December. But family spokesman Vassilis Palmas refuted Loucas' statement, telling the Associated Press the family received no such demand.
Police spokesman Michalis Katsounotos said police found the body in a Nicosia cemetery after being alerted by his family, who had received a telephone tip. DNA testing confirmed the body was that of Papadopoulos.
