It also urged people not to respond to any text messages promoting medical products.
The authority said it is monitoring these websites and keeping an eye on individuals and companies marketing drugs and pharmaceutical goods in the Kingdom.
The SFDA said regulations governing pharmaceutical facilities and products in the Kingdom prohibit such practices.
“These types of drugs and pharmaceutical products are not checked and registered in the Kingdom, therefore they can expose their users to health risks,” a spokesman from the SFDA said.
“Furthermore, the absence of means to verify their quality and effectiveness pose question marks about their safety. So the consequences could be fatal.”
The SFDA reiterated that regulations governing pharmaceutical facilities in the Kingdom do not allow drugs or pharmaceutical products to enter the Kingdom unless a prior import license is obtained.
Advertising medical products in the Kingdom also requires prior permission otherwise violators could be fined up to SR100, 000.
