The council, at a function organized to mark the country’s National Day, adopted resolutions calling for solving the issues of Kashmir and Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh.
The resolution also called for the inclusion of Bangladesh in Rabita Trust that was created during then-President Zia-ul-Haq’s reign for the repatriation of Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh after the fall of Dhaka in 1971. The Rabita Trust was suspended in October 2001 and has not been functioning since then.
The resolution also urged the Organization of the Islamic Conference to include the issue of stranded Pakistanis in its agenda and work for the repatriation of the hapless people languishing in Bangladesh camps for over three decades.
Guest of honor Dr. Mohammad Khaled Bahazeq, founder of International Muslim Organization, called for unity among the people and rulers of Pakistan to effectively fight the menace of terrorism.
Qari Irshadul Haque, vice chairman of Kashmir Community, Iftikhar Choudhry, chairman Halqai Yarane Watan, Seth Mohammad Luqman, Mohammad Ashfaque Badaouni, Tariq Mahmoud, Gulab Khan and Syed Shahabuddin paid rich tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal for their contributions to the creation of Pakistan.
Convener Ehsanul Haque said: “We must work to translate the mission of Jinnah into reality rather than just talk about it. It’s pity that we are not able to solve the issue of Kashmir in 63 years and that of the stranded Pakistanis in 38 years.
Poets Naseem Sehar, Athar Nafees Abbasi, Abdul Qayyum Waseq, Syed Mohsin Alavi, Zamurrad Khan Saifi and Gule Anwar presented poems on Pakistan and its founders. Syed Musarrat Khalil conducted the proceedings.
