“We endeavor to offer training programs for abusers, victims of abuse and everyone who works in the field of domestic violence, including psychologists, social workers and physicians,” said Enaam Ruboi, head of the Family Protection Society.
The agreement signed at the main Ceremonial and Conference Center at KAU also involves Abdullah Bugshan’s Research Chair for Domestic Violence Studies under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The research chair will fund awareness campaigns to help eradicate domestic violence. “It is also aimed to conducting research, partnering with other relevant entities, holding events and providing counseling services to families and individuals suffering from domestic abuse,” said Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, the chair’s supervisor.
Planning for the agreement started more than six months when Ruboi and officials in the society about the research chair that is devoted for domestic violence. Trainers from Saudi Arabia and abroad will participate in the program.
