Mohammed Iqbal, a retired office superintendent of the PR department of the secretariat of the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (AP), claims his 35-year-old son, Mohammed Javid, is missing.
Javid came to Saudi Arabia to work as an air conditioning technician under a Saudi sponsor. Since starting work in Al-Dawadmi, a town in Al-Qassim region, in 2002, Javid regularly spoke to his wife and mother residing in Cuddapah, AP, on the phone for the next four years. According to his father, Javid made frequent telephone calls and spoke to his wife and mother until 2006. But thereafter, the family heard nothing from him.
“Javid is missing and I want people to help me find his whereabouts,” said Iqbal in a petition received by the Federation of Kerala Associations in Saudi Arabia (FOKASA) lately.
“The petition has been forwarded to the Embassy of India in Riyadh,” R. Muraleedharan, president of FOKASA, Riyadh, told Arab News on Tuesday.
“When we contacted the sponsor, he told us that Javid had run away and he had informed the local Passport Office to that effect two years ago,” Muraleedharan added. Embassy sources said the father’s petition received from FOKASA had been forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as per the normal procedure. Javid’s home address is D. No. 11/221-1-1, Ameen Peer Road, Cuddapah-516001, Andhra Pradesh. His passport No. is A-4758919.
