Now student visits have been restricted to science, historical, literary and cultural centers.
The decision was taken as a precautionary measure after a student grievously injured himself at the King Fahd Coastal City. Al Falah Intermediate School, a private school, had arranged a picnic for their students there.
Majed bin Modrek Basaeed, a third standard student of the private school, was admitted to intensive care unit of a nearby hospital after hurting his head following a dive into the pool, preliminary medical tests revealed. He is still in coma, according to the Education Department sources.
The director general and other senior officials of the department as well as the school staff members visited Majed in the hospital.
The director general has instructed the medical supervision department to constitute a medical team to follow up continuously on the condition of the student.
The department has also been asked to conduct an inquiry into the causes of the accident and take stringent punitive measures against those found guilty for their negligence.
