Police found the woman lying in a pool of blood on a street on Sunday. Police in Makkah started an investigation into the incident after taking the body to hospital and are awaiting the results of a postmortem.
The housemaid died two months after her arrival in the Kingdom. There were indications that the woman was suffering from psychological problems.
Police interrogated family members of the maid’s sponsor to determine whether foul play was involved.
Abdul Mohsen Al-Maiman, spokesman of Makkah police, said preliminary investigations indicate that the maid died instantly after falling head first and hitting an electricity generator close to the building.
“The maid was attempting to flee from the sponsor’s family. She sustained fatal head injuries causing her death,” he added.
