“This demonstrates the ministry’s keenness to remove hurdles and facilitate the smooth distribution of plots of land among deserving citizens,” said Suleiman Al-Rowaished, undersecretary for lands and survey affairs at the ministry. He was speaking at a meeting for directors responsible for land and property at various municipalities in the Kingdom.
Al-Rowaished said the new move was in line with the directives of the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Mansour bin Miteb to expedite procedures for the distribution of land among qualified Saudi citizens.
“The minister’s directive is focused on mapping out a unified approach aimed at reducing the number of land disputes and improving land distribution procedures, in addition to the optimum utilization of properties owned by various municipalities,” Al-Rowaished said.
He also noted that the Lands and Survey Agency managed by the ministry has been entrusted with the task of implementing Prince Mansour’s directive through an expertise exchange development program. This would involve concerned specialists and experts at the ministry and their counterparts at various municipalities.
“These specialists started meeting regularly to discuss various land-related issues and come up with solutions through exchanging expertise and conducting experiments in this field,” he said.
Al-Rowaished added that four meetings have already been held — two in Riyadh, and one each in Makkah and the Eastern Province.

In his address, Jeddah Mayor Adel Faqeeh underscored the significance of the meeting in framing a common approach involving the municipalities on several major issues of mutual concern.
The meeting covered several land related issues, including the proper handling of municipal lands, solving disputes and making investments in them.
