“The recommendations included the granting of permission to concerned authorities to raze the buildings and remove other obstacles in wadis that might block or change the course of floodwater.
The authorities should also have the power to take any step to avert food-related calamities,” said Arbaeen.
The governor’s approval of the recommendations also means the authorities have the power to stop construction projects that have already been approved.
The recommendations also urge authorities to crack down on unlicensed settling inside wadis, such as the erection of small farms or rest-stops. Enforcement against illegal dumping was also cited in the recommendations.
