“The man, who had gone to a region of unrest, contacted his family, expressing his desire to return to the Kingdom and surrender to the authorities,” said Al-Turki in a statement.
He said the ministry made arrangements to facilitate the man’s return to the Kingdom and that he has been reunited with his family.
He added that the man would be called to complete legal procedures. “We have taken his initiative into consideration.”
Al-Turki did not disclose the name of the militant and when he returned to the country.
The man’s surrender comes a week after the return of Oqail Omaish Oqail Al-Mutairy, who was on a list of 85 wanted militants published by the ministry.
Last March, Saudi security forces arrested 113 militants who were planning to carry out terrorist attacks on a number of targets inside the Kingdom.
