They were eight in all, some of them physically challenged and some others mentally challenged. Their parents and guardians were all present along with some special invitees who provided the children the much-needed encouragement at the cultural program that followed the presentation of a check for SR125,000 by Giordano to mark its 15th anniversary celebration  in the Kingdom.
All the children gave a stunning performance, synchronizing their movements and wearing a broad smile. The boys in wheel chair had ‘swords’ in their hands and wielded them effectively to match the beats. “What a performance,” said Mohammad Al-Sulaiman, an invitee. “They performed like their able counterparts.”
DCA’s officials including Center Director Othman Abdu Hashem were visibly impressed with the children’s performance as he received the check from Giordano’s Saudi Arabia Director General Hani Abdul Aziz Saab and Middle East and North Africa Executive Director Ishwar Chugani. Hashem said donations received from private sector organizations were being put to effective use in the rehabilitation of disabled children and enabling them to be self-reliant. “Such private sector involvements also contribute to the promotion of pubic awareness on issues of disability,” Hashem said.
DCA’s vision is to further develop to become a national pioneer philanthropic association that deals with issues of disability in a comprehensive and scientific approach. DCA has also been receiving proceeds of various charity programs from time to time. “We are thankful to private sector companies and charity organizations for supporting our activities through the programs they conduct from time to time. “We need a lot of help and assistance, because the task of rehabilitating and educating our kids is big.”
