In a press statement following a NCNC meeting on Saturday, Prince Naif said Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has always stressed the need to protect society from drugs.
“Our society is targeted by profit mongering parties and those who are keen to corrupt it. Unreasonable quantities of hashish and heroin, in addition to Captagon and other capsules, arrive in the Kingdom in alarming quantities. They would not have arrived here but for the presence of buyers,” said the prince.
The prince called on people to cooperate with the government and the concerned authorities to protect their families from drugs. “We must prevent narcotics reaching everyone in society. However, in the event of someone becoming an addict, he should be treated and rehabilitated,” he said.
The prince also called on judges to hand stringent punishments to drug traffickers. He also urged the media to launch effective campaigns against the problem.
