Asharq Al-Awsat’s Ibrahim promoted

Prince Faisal bin Salman, chairman of SRMG, made the appointment after the approval of the board of trustees, on the recommendation of Tariq Alhomayed, the daily’s editor in chief. Ibrahim replaces Othman Mirghani, who has been working with the paper for the last 22 years.
Ibrahim, a political science graduate from the Lebanese University, began his career with the Egyptian Middle East News Agency in 1973.
He has worked for the UAE’s Al-Bayan newspaper and presented economic reports for Dubai Television before joining Asharq Al-Awsat in 1990.
He was assistant chief editor before the new appointment and has an opinion column in the paper.
He is married with three daughters.
