The prize was awarded in appreciation of the prince's achievements in preserving the Kingdom's urban heritage. The prince said SSUS has a major role to play in the preservation of Saudi urban heritage.
"The Kingdom is currently witnessing a vast transformation in the area of urban heritage with a number of programs that are currently being undertaken. There are also projects to invest in heritage for economic and cultural purposes," he said.
He further called on the SSUS and the recently established Saudi Society for Heritage to work jointly.
Salman Al-Sudairy, chairman of SSUS, presented the prize to the prince at the SCTA's headquarters in Riyadh.
He said the prince was selected "because activists in the area of urban heritage admire the prince's contributions to preserve urban heritage in the Kingdom." He also said the prince has set a model for others to follow.
