The new payment methods follow the introduction of a new system that has been developed by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Finance.
The service will put a stop to people visiting unlicensed offices that provide payment services across the Kingdom, saving them both time and effort.
Fahd Al-Shirani, head of the Traffic Department in Yanbu, said the service will help users renew their licenses and vehicle ownership documents, and pay passports fees and transport fines promptly.
Araf Obaid said he was relieved that no longer has to depend on unlicensed offices that provide payment services.
“Think about it like this — we give an amount of cash to an unknown person who claims he will process our request but we’re left unsure and worried it might be a trap,” he said.
“The old system only allows payments to be processed from a select number of banks and not everyone has an account at these banks. This means people have to deal with these unofficial agencies,” he added.
Masha’an Al-Harbi expressed surprise that the government is not keeping an eye on such offices. “They receive SR20 to SR25 for every transaction they make. Guess how much money they are making.”
Government fees can now be paid via all ATMs, Internet
