Argentinian fans were also
optimistic, especially with Lionel Messi on their side. However, nothing is
certain, especially when playing Germany.
“The
German coach, Joachim Loew, read the match perfectly and managed to paralyze
the Argentinian squad in their own half side. With only a few chances,
Argentina did nothing. It was pathetic the way they played. They lost every
single hope in making a come back. It was obvious from the very first three
minutes when Germany scored,” said Mutea Muhammad, an Argentinian fan.
“Argentinian
players did nothing except run around trying to keep up with the German squad,”
he added
Faisal Al-Sayed said he favored the Argentinian team
because of Messi and Maradona and because of Germany’s huge win against Saudi
Arabia in the 2002 World Cup.
“The 4-0 result shows that the Germans meant
business and with no doubt I think they will win the World Cup. Let’s face it,
Maradona is not a good coach. He got the team qualified at the last minute. On
the opposite was Loew who managed to play with perfect tactics and isolated
Messi who was totally lost and frankly did nothing. This Messi is different
from the one playing in Barcelona. All that I can say is congratulations to
Germany and I expect Germany and Holland in the final,” he added.
German
fan Abdul Raheem Ahmad said he never doubted Germany would win. “Argentina
failed in this first real test against Germany. This result will go down in
history and only shows German superiority over Argentina. Maradona is not a
coach. He is an emotional person. Loew managed to read the game and paralyze
the Argentinian team. First it was England and now Argentina. Whoever is next
is not a problem for the Germans. They will win the cup and keep it forever,”
he added.
Soccer
buff Hassan Almaeena praised the tactical supremacy of the Germans that speared
the Argentine passion. “After the 20th minute of the second half, the A dejected
Argentinian fan after the loss to Germany. (EPA) Argentines just gave up. After the first German
goal, the effective marking by three tall Germans of Messi paralyzed
Argentina,” he said. It is ironic that within two days Saudi fans have
witnessed two shocking results with the two South American favorites losing.
