Hot weather exercise outside can be tough on the body and lead to dehydration and exhaustion. But without any exercise through the summer months you can easily gain weight, feel tired and eat out of sheer boredom. Exercise is the fountain of youth and if you are spending the summer in the Gulf it is important to find a way to exercise. Summer can be the perfect time to take care of your body.
Exercising can also be done in a cool, air-conditioned indoor space or outside in the cooler, early morning and evening hours. Swimming in the morning or evening is a great way to exercise the whole body and it is also aerobic so it is good for the heart. If you try to fit in an early morning or evening walk you will feel so much better than just sitting in bed or in front of the television.
We all know that we should exercise regularly, but it is easy in the hot Gulf weather to feel very lazy. Health clubs and the roads are less busy in the summer months and so it is easier to stop off on the way home from the office and exercise so always keep your gym and swimming kit in the car. The fact is exercise recharges your batteries and actually gives you more energy; it releases feel good hormones that leave you feeling relaxed so that you sleep better. Exercise is a great stress buster. If you come home from work stressed, you are no good to your family. So there are many good reasons for fitting exercise into your schedule. And what about a relaxing swim on the way home? You will enjoy the summer more if you are active.
For the very busy I have a program of exercises that can be done in a ten-minute break in your office. All you need is your office chair and two bottles of water to use as weights; you can e-mail me for this at [email protected]. You will soon feel the benefit if you do this every day and it will also ease your stress levels. You can also work out in the privacy of your air conditioned home. Get into a routine of early morning exercise. If you would like a copy of my Mini-Morning Workout e-mail me [email protected]. It only takes ten minutes each morning.
Who could live without air conditioning? In hot, humid climates it is more than a modern comfort — it is an essential element in getting through those sweltering, sticky days; but it is important also to factor in some time outside. Nature is very balancing and restoring — try early morning walking and catching the sunrise or watching the sun gradually setting in the evening. Numerous studies have linked exposure to nature with increased energy and good health. Air conditioning units can also circulate air-borne diseases so it is important to get fresh air in to your home even in summer time.

There should be more to life than watching television and eating chocolates. It is important also to take care of your health because if you carry on like this you will have health problems, as you grow older. If you cannot stop at one chocolate it means you have no control over chocolate and would be better off not having any chocolate in the home. It may be an idea just to buy a small bar of chocolate on a Friday as a treat. It may also help you to sign up for to receive my monthly newsletter that has plenty of motivational tips, exercises and advice. Just e-mail me at [email protected]. It would also be a good idea to discuss your weight with your doctor.
