The students pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of illegally and deliberately injuring another person's dignity.
The video emerged in 2007 from the University of the Free State some 400 kilometers (250 miles) southwest of Johannesburg and prompted bitter protests that racism remained entrenched in South Africa more than a decade after racist white rule ended.
It depicted a mock initiation ceremony into a campus residence, with the four middle-aged women and one man portraying students.
