“We plan to sign these agreements to collect more than SR1.2 million every year in order to be able to support prisoners, ex-convicts and their families,” Sawan said.
He said some of the private organizations will provide the committee with SR300,000 every year. “This will help us implement our rehabilitation programs, extend interest-free micro credits to ex-convicts to establish their own small enterprises, and assist the families of prisoners to meet the daily expenses of life including rent and health care.
Sawan said the committee last week signed an agreement with Nasma Holding Company, which will give SR300,000 to the program every year.
“Nasma Group under its chairman Saleh bin Ali Al-Turki is providing us with this support as part of its social responsibility,” he said. He also asked all civic and welfare societies to follow suit.
Sawan said the committee is making efforts to rehabilitate released prisoners to assimilate them in society and prevent them from going back to a life of crime. “We provide them with work opportunities to ensure they have a good life,” he said.
