“The festival is witnessing a heavy turnout of visitors from the Kingdom and other countries, mostly from the Gulf. As of last Saturday, around 100,000 domestic and foreign visitors had visited the festival,” said Al-Jehani in a statement.
Al-Jehani made the comments after a field visit to the festival that is being held at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz University.
He was accompanied by other SCTA officials who expressed pleasure at the high level of organization and praised Saudi Aramco’s efforts to make the event a huge success.
The 27-day long festival, which was inaugurated by acting Riyadh Gov. Prince Sattam on July 12, is a community program that informs Saudis about aspects of social responsibility that are vital to the 21st century, such as volunteerism, traffic safety, public health and environmental protection.
The festival includes exhibitions focusing on traffic safety, health awareness and environmental conservation as well as documentary films.
Last week, students from King Saud University (KSU) took part in the festival and took the opportunity to learn how they could benefit their respective communities.
“The event not only exposed students from various schools and universities to important concepts of social responsibility but it also showed how they might organize and disseminate these values to the public,” said Abdullah bin Essa Al-Essa, director of Saudi Aramco Affairs in Riyadh.
Dean of Student Affairs Fahd bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Musnad, Ebtesam Mohammed Salah Al-Olayan and student club supervisor Ameera bint Hasan Al-Mahasna headed the KSU delegation.
“This entertaining and informative event has been successful thanks to its well-organized program and engaging activities that promote ideas such as art clubs and community centers, health awareness programs, the effectiveness of recreation programs and the implementation of cultural competitions for children,” said Al-Musnad.
