Well, more than 5,000 young Saudis are returning to the Kingdom this year after completing higher studies in universities in the United States and other countries.
How will the private sector receive them? Will they be accommodated?
There are about 80,000 Saudi students doing various courses abroad under the King Abdullah Scholarship Program, which requires scholarship students attend courses in fields that will serve the local employment market. When these graduates return, they will change the employment market. Otherwise, what benefit is there in spending billions of riyals on the scholarship program?
To bridge the gap between these graduates and the private sector, the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) needs to assume an active role. For this, the fund should rise above its current role.
The Ministry of Higher Education should furnish the HRDF with details, such as the names of graduates, their specializations and universities, in order to pass on the data to the private sector. This will subsequently shorten the distance between graduates and the employment market.
