But Murat Karayilan, the PKK's acting leader, told reporters they would renew their fight if the Turkish military steps up operations in the coming months.
The PKK on Aug. 13 resumed a unilateral cease-fire after a 2-1/2 month period in which more than 100 Turkish soldiers were killed. The group, which has bases in northern Iraq, is waging an armed campaign for more autonomy in southeast Turkey.
