In Saudi Arabia, Samsung Electronics has been welcomed with open arms and given the golden chance to enter a market that has high prospect for all sectors of business and industry. Samsung has achieved not only its business target, but has given back to Saudi society by training and preparing future generations to enter the business world in their own blessed land.
During the holy month of Ramadan, a six-month program to train 50 boys and 50 girls in the age group of 14 to 19 years from Al-Bir Society at the New Horizons Institute was initiated.
Samsung’s continuous ethical and responsible support for community service activities throughout the Kingdom will provide the upcoming generation with the best in class training and education for a brighter and better tomorrow.
Education is the key for a successful development of society, and is a stairway for personal progress. Samsung realizes this criterion will initiate a positive impact on the society and this CSR program aims to sow roots of excellence and enhance underprivileged livelihoods to enter the competitive world of employment.
The policy is to deliver a sustainable model, in such a way that underprivileged members of society are able to stand on their own feet, and can participate in the economy through their enhanced capacities and newly generated learning skills.
New Horizons is the largest independent IT training institution, chosen by Samsung Electronics, to train, develop and modernize the IT skills of these individuals and receive the adequate knowledge to enter a secure, life-long career path. Samsung’s initiative includes sponsoring the bright individuals from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam for a period of approximately a year, where they will be receiving training from certified instructors with the latest curriculum on the education of the utmost cutting edge technology.
This program is supervised and sponsored by Samsung Electronics, which is incurring all costs pertaining to the students’ tuitions, and a graduation ceremony in honor of the students will be celebrated by the end of the program with the attendance of a number of officials from Samsung Electronics and Al-Bir Society.
Moreover, Samsung is also looking forward to making the top-ranked students of the graduating class, future employees of Samsung Electronics and their partners within the Kingdom and through other job opportunities that will be secured by the job placement program that falls under New Horizons.
Samsung Electronics-Saudi Arabia employees will also contribute to the development and education of the students by sharing expertise via an exclusive volunteer program. It will also enable participative management and student training. Each month, one department head & Samsung employees will visit New Horizons Institute and present the students with an insightful lecture on the area of his expertise. This will continue to benefit students during the program.
Training and developing youth is Samsung’s never-ending vision of continuous development of character, value and product. Over 60 percent of the population in the Kingdom is under 30, this segment embraces technology in ways that require connectivity and other features to be state-of-the-art in daily mobile usage. During March, the “Ch@t Smarter” campaign was launched to connect with the youth through revolutionary messaging phones. Indeed, Samsung has extended its reach to the youth and young minded consumer through ground-breaking events in each of Jeddah and Alkhobar malls during ‘Samsung Mobile Live’ for a chance at a hands-on experience of the latest mobile technologies.
