Farhan Al-Talidi, principal of the Al-Jehad Primary School, said only 19 out of a total 83 students attended classes on Sunday. He said the parents of abstained students informed him that their sons did not attend school that day to protest the fact that there is no intermediate school in the town.
The parents also said that there are sufficient classrooms to hold intermediary school lessons at the town’s primary school.
Parents Muhammad Hayyan, Matir Saeed and Ali Salman said the Education Department’s local office was deliberately being neglectful in opening the school, even though there are 10 available classrooms at the primary school.
They added that their children are unable to continue their education after the primary school level unless they go to other towns.
